Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 8, 2018 – The grandson of 82-year-old Bernice Iona Nicholas has been charged with murder.
Police said Friday, 28-year-old Michael Nicholas of Ponds Estate was formally arrested and charged on a Warrant, in the first instance, for the offence of Murder on Thursday.
“He was charged for causing the death of his 82-year-old grandmother, Bernice Iona Nicholas, at their home in Ponds Estate on June 3,” the police statement said.
An autopsy earlier concluded that she died as a result of mechanical asphyxia due to obstruction of the airway.
The murder of the senior citizen is the Federation’s 15th murder victim for 2018.
