Guyana And Trinidad and Tobago Express Strong Commitment to Deepen Relations with St Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 16, 2022 (SKNIS): The Governments of Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana have expressed a strong commitment to strengthening the bonds of mutual cooperation with the new administration in St. Kitts and Nevis.

In a congratulatory letter sent to Prime Minister, Honourable Dr Terrance Drew, the Honourable Dr Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, noted that the August 05 election victory by the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) “expresses the confidence that the local population has in the SKNLP team to direct the course of the country in an increasingly complex global environment.”

“Allow me to reaffirm the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to strengthening the bonds of friendship that have existed between our two countries. I look forward to working with you to bring new impetus to the pursuit of our bilateral and regional interests,” Honourable Amery wrote.

Meanwhile, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency Mohamed Irfaan Ali, noted in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Drew that “I look forward to working with you to further the relations which so happily exist between our two countries and peoples, and to contribute to the advancement of the regional integration process, particularly the CARICOM Single Market and Economy.”

The letter continued, “Our two countries also share the distinction of being partners with the Federative Republic of Brazil in a Partial Scope Agreement aimed at promoting trade with that country.”

President Ali said that the two agreements “provide ample scope for a robust agenda of mutual cooperation and collaboration” that will benefit the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and Guyana.
