Guyanese national killed in traffic accident is identified

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The Guyanese national who was in an alleged hit and run accident on Friday, October 4, 2013 has been identified as 51 year old Hareatt ‘Chandapaul’ Balgobin.

According to information received Police Officers responded to a traffic accident at Government Road in the vicinity of the Alexander Hospital at about 9:28 p.m. One male was found lying in the road unresponsive.

He was later pronounced dead on the scene by Dr. Chandy Jacob.

It was reported that Balgobin was a few seconds away from his residence when the fatal tragic accident occurred.

Balgobin’s death is the first traffic accident that resulted in death for the year 2013 on the island of Nevis.

Today, Monday, October 07, 2013 an autopsy was conducted on the deceased by resident pathologist, Dr. Dora Marino. She ruled that the cause of death was due to hypolevic shock due to traffic accident.

This media house has also learnt that one male is currently in police custody helping with the investigations. There are also reports that a vehicle has been confiscated by the police.

Police investigations continue.
