The Hanley’s Road team has secured the final semifinal spot in the ongoing Village Premier league (VPL).
This feat was accomplished on Sunday 27th May, at the Hard Times playing field, under overcast conditions.
The Hanley’s Road team engaged a depleted Easterns team, which showed up without certain key players.
Easterns won the toss and elected to bat first, recognizing the fact that they were short of players.
They managed 68 for 3, in their allotted 12 overs.
The Hanley’s Road team then proceeded to knock off the target in short order, only utilizing 6 of their allotted overs and for the loss of just one wicket, that of Wasim Mintos, who scored a fiery 39, before he was run out.
Man of the match, Theron Bussue, was not out on 20 and he had earlier bagged 4 wickets.
Mintos received a shopping spree voucher, complements of Best Buy Supermarket, while Bussue received a similar voucher, along with a cash prize from STRONG JOINT construction.
The semifinals are now scheduled for next Sunday – 3rd June, when the four qualifying teams will face off for the two coveted finals’ spots: Bushwhackers; Hanley’s Road; Beaters and Young Warriors.
