High Command Shows Empathy for Dominican Officers Working in St. Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 01, 2015 (RSCNPF): In a display of solidarity, the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force held a meeting with officers from Dominica serving within its ranks on Monday (August 31).

Acting Commissioner of Police, Stafford Liburd expressed to the group, “We understand your concern for your families, friends, former colleagues and your homeland. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is a family and we will support you during in this difficult period in Dominica.”

The Commissioner told the officers to bring their concerns to the fore, “Let us help you as you help your loved ones at home. We will support you,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Operations, Vaughan Henderson said, he was deeply concerned about how the storm had impacted Dominica, their homeland, and that the Police Force would assist the officers as they help their families at home to recover from any damage suffered.

In the meeting one officer said he had suffered personal loss with the death of family members, others indicated that their families experienced property damage and a few mentioned that they are yet to contact their family members in Dominica.

ACP Henderson shared that the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is also doing its part to support relief efforts in Dominica and has begun its own relief drive to collect donations of dry goods, clothing, linens and other relief items to aid affected persons and families. Collection boxes he said are located in the main stations, Basseterre and Charlestown.
