HRISHIKESH OFF TO REPRESENT FEDERATION IN COURTS READING COMPETITION

Charlestown-Nevis—Young Hrishikesh Srinivasan, a student of the Maude Cross Preparatory School, is currently in Dominica and will be the proud representative of the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis in the Courts OECS reading competition for Primary Schools.

Hrishikesh was the comprehensive winner in the showdown between the Primary Schoolers in St.Kitts and Nevis and thus will have the entire Federation supporting him in the quest for the regional championship honours.

A brief ceremony was held at the departure lounge of the Vance Amory Int. Airport on Tuesday 9th March, as Hrishikesh and his proud parents and teacher, prepared to board a flight en route to Dominica.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Education officer, Mrs. Ermilita Elliot warmly congratulated the young student on his achievement and wished him well in the upcoming endeavour.

Headmistress at the Maude Cross Preparatory School, Miss Cherry-Ann Walwyn, was adamant that the young student would perform well and admonished him to ‘bring the trophy back to Nevis.’

Hrishikesh’s teacher, Miss Shelina Williams, spoke in glowing terms of the attributes of the student and stated that she too is confident that he will win.

On a note of solemnity, Education Officer, Mrs. Cynthia Grenyion initiated a word of prayer and asked for God’s blessing and guidance on the student on the very significant journey.

Hrishikesh for his part, promised to do his best and thanked his teachers, parents and all who had assisted him to reach thus far.

His parents, Dr. Srinivasan Rangarajan and Dr. Mamata Srinivasan both noted that their son had been well prepared by the school and are both confident that he will do well.

The contest will be conducted at around 2:30 pm today –Thursday 3rd March and will be streamed live.

The student and his parents are due to return to Nevis on Monday 7th March.
