Single Parents Group Make Annual Scholarship Donation

Charlestown-Nevis-The Single Parents group, which is coordinated by the Social Services Department on Nevis, held its annual scholarship awards ceremony, on Wednesday 29th August.

The brief but very meaningful ceremony was held at the office of the Department, located at Grove Park.

Chairing the proceedings, was group member Ms. Lydia Lawrence, ably assisted by another group member, Miss Michelle Hanley.

The single parents group makes donations to at least two Primary School students each year, who are specifically identified by their respective schools, as having potential and are in need of assistance.

On this occasion, presentations were made to Malikwa Peets of the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School and Shenicia Maynard of the St. Thomas’ Primary School.

They both expressed their thanks to the Single Parents group for the fine gesture.

Also expressing thanks, were Malikwa’s mom, Miss Ulinda Warner and Shenicia’s mom, Miss Diamond Maynard, who both noted their profound gratitude to the group for the assistance.

The package deal given to each student, included uniforms, shoes, school bag, lunch bag, exercise books, sharpeners and pencils.

The single parents group, which is coordinated by Mrs. Grace Manners, works assiduously every year in committing to a variety of fund raisers, to raise the money, in an effort to keep the scholarship program going.
