Former outstanding athletes from St. Kitts, Graeme, and Marecia Browne are now well poised to assist upcoming athletes in St. Kitts and Nevis, in acquiring well-needed scholarships, in order to achieve their academic goals.
The husband and wife duo, who were formerly fierce rivals, as they previously represented two of the top athletic schools on St.Kitts, Sandy Point High and Basseterre High, finally fell in love and got married.
Out of their experiences, they have now decided to assist athletes, wherever possible. Marecia was fortunate to acquire a full scholarship and eventually attained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Graeme was not that fortunate. He only received a partial scholarship and eventually had to drop out of his course of study, due to lack of finances. They are now committed to ensuring that no other athlete from St. Kitts and Nevis, faces a similar dilemma.
Currently, they are offering assistance to athletes in the following sporting disciplines: Track and Field, Basketball, Tennis, Football and Volley Ball. They are contemplating adding Swimming, in the not too distant future.
In order to assist athletes in Nevis specifically, they will be hosting a seminar in Nevis, on Saturday 20th March at the Red Cross headquarters.
Sessions will be conducted as follows:
9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. – Track and Field and Tennis athletes
1 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. – Basketball, Football and Volley Ball athletes.
Each participant is required to pay a registration fee of $40.00 and athletes under the age of 17, would be required to bring along at least one parent.
During the seminar, athletes will be able to converse with coaches in the USA, who will call in and be able to commence building relationships and gaining information as to the various colleges and universities and specific requirements.
