INDEPENDENCE HONOREES RECOGNIZED FOR NATIONBUILDING

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 17, 2013 (SKNIS):  A cadre of persons will be celebrated for their contributions to nation building, as the 30th anniversary Independence celebrations roll on.

The announcement came on Monday, September 16 by chairperson of the Independence 30 Planning Committee, Sharon Rattan, at a ceremony held to pay tribute to national heroes at the Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Park in St. Paul’s.

Persons would be honoured in six (6) specific fields:

In Agriculture:

Mr. Charles Stephens (Fisherman)                  Mr. Augustine Merchant (Administrator)

Mr. Luther Clarke (Farmer)                            Ms. Louise Brady (Farmer)

Mr. Keithley Armstrong (Farmer)

In Arts and Culture:

Mr. Ian Hodge (Music)                                   Mr. Halstead Byron (Culturama)

Mr. Lionel Gumbs (Mansion Bull)                  Rev. Canon Dr Alston Percival (Ecclesiastical Affairs)

Mrs. Joan Mallalieu (Music)                            Mr. Valentine Martin (Master Drummer)

In Education:
