Investigation launched in Tuesday night’s attempted murder

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 22, 2018 – Police have launched an investigation into the attempted murder of several persons on Nevis Street in Basseterre on Tuesday night.

A police statement said several persons were sitting in an alley on Nevis Street when they were fired upon by an unknown assailant about 8.15 pm.

Police units responding to reports of gunshots in the area found 20-year-old Neshan Henry of McKnight in a yard with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his leg.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that Henry was sitting in an alley in the vicinity of Nevis Street with several other persons when gunshots were fired by an unknown assailant. Henry ran away from the scene and was hit by a bullet in the leg,” the police said in a statement Wednesday.

Henry was transported to the JNF Hospital by the Emergency Medical Service and is currently warded in a stable condition.

Police said investigations are ongoing and urged persons with information about this incident to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1887/1888 or 662-3468 or their nearest Police Station.
