JetBlue coming to Trinidad

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — Jet Blue Airways will soon be setting up shop in Trinidad and Tobago, making the destination the southernmost point for the New York City-based carrier.

The airline will be launching flights to Trinidad beginning in July 2014, according to Finance and Economy Minister Larry Howai.

In his Budget statement on Monday, Howai noted that, from July 2014, JetBlue, a low cost American-based airline, will commence flights to Trinidad and a new charter, Apollo Airlines, a Greece-based company, will soon launch flights from selected cities in Europe to Tobago.

These new airline arrangements will complement WestJet’s current service between Toronto and Port of Spain and Caribbean Airlines’ operations between Port of Spain and destinations in North America and Europe.

Jet Blue has been focusing its expansion service in Puerto Rico and currently has flights to Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and St Maarten
