Charlestown, Nevis — The Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS) recently welcomed Junior Minister of Tourism Rondre Daniel for a day of hands-on learning and engagement as he prepares to represent Nevis at the Regional Tourism Youth Congress in Guyana this October.
During his visit to NHCS, Daniel immersed himself in the organisation’s daily operations and gained valuable insight into its ongoing efforts to preserve, document, and promote the rich heritage of Nevis.
The young tourism official interacted with visitors and learned about NHCS programmes, projects, grant initiatives, and the organisation’s broader role in safeguarding Nevisian history and cultural heritage.
As part of the experience, Daniel also got hands-on with NHCS’s digitisation efforts, assisting with the scanning of historic documents connected to the Jewish community in Nevis. The initiative highlights the important role that technology can play in preserving historical records and making them accessible for future generations.
The experience provided Daniel with an opportunity to see first-hand how heritage preservation and tourism intersect, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the work being done to protect Nevis’ unique historical legacy.
NHCS expressed hope that the experience will provide inspiration and valuable perspective as Daniel prepares to represent Nevis on the regional stage at the Tourism Youth Congress.
His participation also underscores the importance of exposing young leaders to the various dimensions of the tourism sector, including heritage preservation, cultural education, research, and sustainable tourism development.
