By:Curtis Morton

Charlestown-Nevis- King Oscar ‘Astro’ Browne, reigning National Carnival and Culturama King in the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis, on Monday 17th August, made a special presentation of a monetary gift to a budding Soca artiste on Nevis.

The fortunate young artiste is Raynaldon X-RAY Bartlette who is a DJ and current Operations Manager at Choice radio.

King Astro during the brief handing over ceremony which was held at Bath Hotel noted that he had listened to the songs released by X-Ray for the Culturama season on sound cloud and other social media and he was really impressed by the productions and energy of the young artiste.

“I was impressed with the quality of the material; quality of sound”, he said. He said that he was making the contribution towards the further progress of the young artiste.

X-ray for his part thanked King Astro immensely for the financial contribution which he said would be utilized in ensuring early productions for Sugar mas’ 2015 otherwise known as St.Kitts carnival.

He stated that he was surprised at the positive feedback that he got after releasing the songs and he was even more surprised to get the contribution from the reigning king.

Astro further indicated that he loved X-ray’s attitude and his energy and stated that because he has benefited immensely from the art form, he was now in a position to give back something, and X-ray is the fortunate one.

He said that maybe sometime in the future, he will donate to the further development of a young Calypsonian and Mighty Sukki immediately comes to mind.

X-ray released three tracks for the Culturama season: ‘Twerk team session’; ‘Gyal bounce it’ and ‘Epidemic’, which is a remix of the well loved ‘Culturama Fever’, produced by Bahowlah ‘The Meek’.

He stated:

“I plan to start releasing songs as early as September, as I will be making music all year round and not just only in the festive season. Who knows, maybe later on God’s willing I may join or start my own band when there is enough content for performance.”

He added: “I would like to thank King Astro again for his contribution.  It is indeed a jump start in my ongoing efforts that will be rolled out during the next few weeks
