Labour Force Survey

The Department of Statistics within the Ministry of Sustainable Development wishes to inform the general public of a Labour Force Survey (LFS) to be conducted during the month of March and April, 2016. The survey is scheduled to begin 27th March and continue to 30th April, 2016.
This initiative is being undertaken by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis in collaboration with the Organization for Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The survey is designed to collect important information on the country’s labour market including estimates of labour force participation rate, employment by industry and the unemployment rate. Also a poverty index is to be derived from the results of the study.
Data collection will be carried out through the use of questionnaires that will be administered through face-to-face interviews.
The Department of Statistics is soliciting the cooperation of the general public in completing this Survey. In compliance with the Statistics Act of 2002, all information provided will be kept strictly confidential, and the results of the survey is to be published only at an aggregate level.
The Department of Statistics wishes to thank all those who offered their fullest cooperation in the first phase of the Labour Force Survey, which was conducted during the period November to December, 2015.
