Lawmakers to debate 8 bills when National Assembly meets on Friday

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 22ND 2014 (CUOPM) – Eight bills will be debated when the St. Kitts and Nevis National meets on Friday.

According to the Order Paper from Mr. Jose Lloyd, the Clerk of the lawmaking body, Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Finance, Sustainable Development, Human Resource Development and Constituency Empowerment, Defence and Police, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will introduce and have read a first time and debate during the Second Reading, The Customs Bill, 2014; The Duty Free Shops (Amendment) Bill, 2014; The National Assembly Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and The St. Christopher and Nevis Defence Force (Amendment) Bill, 2014.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Labour, Justice and Legal Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett will introduce The Housing and Social Development Levy (Amendment) Bill 2014 and The Jury Bill, 2014.

Minister of Health and Social Services, Community development and Gender Affairs and Culture, the Hon. Marcella Liburd will also lead the debate on the Second Reading of The Domestic Violence Bill 2014, which had its first reading on august 18th 2014.
