Lawrence, Liburd; Somersall and Leader Star at GSS

It was a busy day at the Gingerland Secondary School on Tuesday 12th February. The entire day was dedicated to the cross country events for boys and girls in the junior and senior categories.

The races for the girls were held during the morning and the boys featured during the afternoon.

The action started with the junior girls who started at the school, raced along the main road, made a left into hard times, headed through Rawlins and exiting through Old manor, back to the main road and straight to the school.

Gavincia Lawrence ran a smart race and held on t the first position.

Immediately after that the senior girls got on the way. They ran a similar route as the juniors except for the fact that they continued on to make their exit at Zetlands and onto the school.

Dereka Liburd held her nerve to shake off serious challenges from firstly Malencia Hanley and then from Nareida Lake in the latter stages, to take gold.

The afternoon commenced with the junior boys race. They raced from the school and went on to Hull Ground and made the left turn into Hard Times, into Rawlins and exiting through Old Manor onto the main road and back to the school. Deondre Somersall shook off an initial serious challenge from Kayode Wilkin, to take gold.

In the final race of the day, Richard leader virtually lived up to his name, leading all the way to clinch gold. Th senior boys ran a similar route to the juniors except for the fact that they made their exit at Zetlands.
