Leader of the Opposition to deal with IMF report, crime and the Chinese fugitive issue on “Ask the Leader”

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, May 16th 2017 – Leader of the Opposition, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is expected to respond today to  the latest IMF Report on St. Kitts and Nevis.

Dr. Douglas will do so on his weekly radio programme “Ask the Leader” which is aired every Tuesday at 10 am on Kyss 102.5 FM.

Dr. Douglas will also discuss the issues of crime and the Chinese Fugitive Scandal.

Following a three-week assessment in St. Kitts and Nevis, the IMF said the growth rate for St. Kitts and Nevis has contracted, the overall fiscal surplus deteriorated, the overall balance remains in deficit, the current account deficit widened significantly, the external current account deficit should remain large and CBI inflows are expected to taper off.

The IMF said the St. Kitts and Nevis economy posted a modest 3.2 percent growth rate in 2016, compared to 4.9 percent in 2015 and 5.12 percent in 2014.

On the Chinese Fugitive scandal Dr. Douglas has disclosed that he has in his possession, irrefutable evidence that Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris was given a full report on Ren Biao in April of 2015, less than six weeks after taking office.

And despite a three-day damage control media blitz – a government controlled talk show, a national address and a press conference, the nation is still in the dark as to who has been receiving money to protect Ren Biao.

The programme is rebroadcast a6 6.30pm Tuesday on KYSS 102.5 FMEndFragment
