Leeward Islands Women were crowned champions after edging past Barbados Women by six runs under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method in a tense final at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown.
Batting first, the Leeward Islands Women posted a competitive 111 for 6 from their 20 overs. On a testing surface, the innings required patience and smart shot selection, with the Leewards managing their resources well to set a defendable total in the championship match.
Rain interruptions later altered the course of the contest, revising Barbados Women’s target to 86 from 16 overs. In response, Barbados reached 79 for 5, but were unable to keep pace with the required run rate as the Leeward Islands bowlers maintained discipline and composure under pressure.
The Leewards’ ability to defend their score in challenging conditions proved decisive, as they held their nerve to secure a narrow six-run victory and lift the CWI T20 Blaze title.
The triumph capped an outstanding tournament for the Leeward Islands Women, whose resilience, teamwork, and consistency throughout the competition were rewarded with championship glory.
