Local Football to Commence Easter

Football fans on Nevis can expect a busy and exciting Football season which is expected to commence on the Easter weekend this year, with the first of several innovative tournaments.

Newly elected President of the Nevis Football Association, Mr. Rohan Isles on Wednesday, in speaking to the media, indicated that his association has been working assiduously behind the scenes in formulating and fine tuning plans for the successful recommencement of active Football on the island.

The association comprises of the following individuals:
Rohan Isles –President
Sylvester Meade–Vice President
–Grant-Secretary
–Meade
Raymond Smith
Colin Walwyn

Isles noted that he was happy to note that no fewer than four of the aforementioned executive members of the association, are former presidents and stated that he would be leaning on their expertise and experience to forge the way forward for Football on the island, even though he plans to bring his own personal initiatives into the mix as well.

The season is set to commence on Friday March 25th—Good Friday with a new tournament, dubbed ‘Easter Cup’ which should run for that weekend.
Shortly thereafter, the island wide local competition will commence.
He indicated that his association is low on funds, as the ‘kitty’ currently contains less than $10,000.00 but stated that his executive will be implementing many fundraisers to raise well needed funds.

He also noted that they will be targeting a lot of the small businesses to assist with the sponsorship of teams and events hosted by the Association.
Isles used the opportunity to encourage all teams to commence immediate preparations for a busy and hectic season and promised the fans that they are in for a treat, once the action on the field of play commences.
