Locals urged to seek employment for Park Hyatt construction

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 8TH 2014 (CUOPM) – Minister of Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Ricky” Skerritt has called on nationals to seek employment for the job opportunities that will become available when construction of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts starts.

Minister Skerritt disclosed that opportunities for employment so far advertised for the multi-million dollar Park Hyatt Hotel construction project that is to be located on the South-East Peninsula include construction supervisors, foremen, tradesmen, external works supervisors, store keepers, safety managers.

He said the Park Hyatt St. Kitts is vital to the future economic growth of St. Kitts and Nevis and the buttressing of the high-end tourism market, which fits into an overall plan for the development of a sustainable green island economy.

Minister Skerritt was at the time providing a comprehensive update to the Cabinet of Ministers on the progress made on the project with plans to commence the construction of the Park Hyatt Hotel.

Minister reported that final designs for the 5-star hotel were approved in November, 2013 and that Kier Construction Ltd has been contracted to commence local hiring.
