Maryland, USA – September 2026 – Loughton Sargeant has been honoured with a Governor’s Citation from Maryland Governor Wes Moore in recognition of more than four decades of dedicated community service.
Sargeant, together with members of The Image Band, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing the honour as a deeply meaningful acknowledgement of his longstanding commitment to serving the community.
For more than 40 years, Sargeant has contributed to community life through service, cultural engagement, and his involvement in the Caribbean community in Maryland. The Governor’s Citation recognises his enduring commitment and the positive impact of his contributions over the decades.
“I am truly honoured to have received the Governor’s Citation from Governor Wes Moore of the State of Maryland for my community service spanning more than four decades,” said Sargeant.
He also extended congratulations to the other honourees recognised at the occasion and expressed special appreciation to Luis McSween, Chair of the Governor’s Caribbean Affairs Office of Maryland, and his wife, Monique McSween, for hosting the special event.
The recognition highlights the valuable contributions of Caribbean nationals and community leaders to the social and cultural fabric of Maryland and celebrates those whose sustained service has helped strengthen communities across the state.
