A press release from the Royal St. Lucia Police Force on Sunday, May 3, 2015 announced the sudden death of a medical doctor from North Carolina, U.S.A. The doctor, whose mother is from Nevis was said to have been in St. Lucia on vacation.
According to the release, on Sunday, May 3, 2015 about 3:45 p.m. officers attached to the Soufriere Police station in St. Lucia received information of a sudden death on the Gros Piton trail.
Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of 31 year old, Samyca Harris Edwin, a resident of North Carolina in the United States of America.
Edwin, a doctor by profession was hiking the trail along with her husband, also a doctor when she suddenly collapsed. Her husband administered CPR but Edwin never regained consciousness.
Her body was transported to the Soufriere hospital where she was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
A post mortem examination to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Wednesday May 6, 2015.
