Meeko was among twelve quarter-finalists who had secured a spot in the semi-finals. However, it was announced that he could not compete that night due to ‘vocal problems’ and was advised by his doctor not to sing.

However, Meeko requested a bi to compete in the Culturama Senior Calypso finals. The Committee met on Monday, July 29, 2013 to discuss if the veteran should be allowed to compete for the finals and in their discussion the request from the King was denied. It was announced however, that he would make an appearance as a guest artiste.

After being out of the calypso arena for a long period, Meeko returned this year with two songs ‘Sing to win’ and ‘Darkest hour’. These songs have gotten much airplay on the local airways and a positive feedback from the general public. Fans have been touting that his songs could have secured him the victory in the Senior Kaiso competition. Unfortunately Meeko would not be able to be a competitor.

The other calypsonians competing are: Bhingi, Astro, Baker, Lady Conscious, Pupa Wheeler, Nutsie, Hollywood and the reigning King Dis N’ Dat.

Gharlic, Lady Onna, Watusi and Sabu were eliminated from the semi-finals contest that was held on Friday, July 26, 2013.
