Melisa Receives Grand Farewell

Camps Village, Nevis – Scores of individuals showed up at the Combermere Methodist Church, on the afternoon of Saturday, January 25, 2019.

The occasion that brought so many people together, was a sad one. It was the funeral service of the lovable and adorable, Melisa Lawrence.

The hard-working former employee of the Nisbett’s Plantation Inn was involved in a vehicular accident early on New Year’s day and succumbed to her injuries on Friday 10th January.

The church was filled and overflowing and many persons wept unashamedly.

The service was presided over by Rev. Steadroy Pemberton, who also delivered the timely sermon, asking the pertinent question: ‘Are we ready for death?’  He was ably assisted by Rev. Bonny Byron, Superintendent of the Methodist Church on Nevis.

The many tributes included renditions by the Sugar Hill String band; Class number 10 at the Combermere Methodist Church; the Nisbett Plantation Inn family and Relatives of the deceased.

The touching formal remembrance was delivered by an emotional adopted sister, Angelica Browne, who painted a glowing picture of the affable young woman, who was taken away in the prime of her life.

Scripture readings were done by Mrs. Sylvia Fahie and Glendora Isaac.

The body was interred at the nearby church cemetery.
