‘Mem’ Makes His Final Exit

Cotton Ground-Nevis- He was described as a quiet, peaceful but resourceful man.

A man who was dedicated to family and community. His name: Nathaniel Parry, affectionately known as MEM.

He passed away quietly on the 2nd of September 2018, at the ripe old age of 92.

He fathered some 16 children, nine of them by his loving wife Winifred, who he was married to for approximately 61 years, up to the time of his death.

His funeral service was held on Thursday 27th September, at the historic St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, where he was a dedicated and regular church member for many years. He was lauded as one for the few men who have remained active and committed to the seniors’ groups, established around the island.

Among the many groups and individuals paying tribute, were: the Brotherhood of St. Andrews; the seniors’ group; Meredith and Sylvia Hendrickson; Leroy Parris Jr (on pan) and the staff at the Alexandra Hospital.

The glowing eulogy was delivered by one of his many nieces, Pastor Dawn Jeffers.

The scripture lessons and the intercession, were read by granddaughters, Ms. Treshania Parry; Ms. Karen Hobson and Ms. Givania Griffin.

The officiating Minister was the very Reverend J. Rudolph Smithen.

The internment was at the church’s graveyard, with all of the usual pomp and ceremony of the Liamuiga Funeral Home, which included the traditional releasing of the pigeons.
