Mr Joseph Walcott Parry served the Bank of Nevis Limited in two important capacities—as a Director on its first Board and, later, as Chairman.
His service to the Bank was not simply about occupying a position. It was an extension of a much greater mission that has defined his life’s work: to help lift our people out of poverty and into an era of greater material, social, and economic well-being.
When Mr Parry joined the Board of Directors, he saw an opportunity to pursue that mission from another angle.
He understood that access to financial services, economic opportunity, and a strong local financial institution could play an important role in improving the lives of our people. And so, he stepped forward.
Throughout the many years he served as both Director and Chairman, Mr Parry demonstrated an unrelenting commitment to the welfare of our people and an unwavering faith in what was possible.
There may have been challenges along the way. There may have been moments when the future seemed uncertain. But Mr Parry continued to stand with the Bank and with the vision upon which it was founded by his former boss and the man with whom he worked closely, Dr Simeon Daniel.
His contribution is therefore a testament not only to his service, but also to his belief in Nevis, his belief in our people, and his belief that we can build institutions that stand the test of time.
