Minister Evelyn Pays Tribute to Drag Racing Stalwart

The Drag Racing fraternity on Nevis, is mourning the loss of one of the original stalwarts of the Drag racing Unit on the island.
Nicholas NICK Williams passed away on Friday 24th May.
Among those left to mourn, is his wife and well known Taxi driver, Marilyn ‘Ras Della’ Williams.
The dreadlocked, beloved Mechanic by profession, was one of the members of the Drag Racing Unit team, when the sport was initially introduced to the island.
Apart from ensuring that the vehicles were well tuned and ready for racing, Nick also took care of the Christmas tree lighting system which is used at the starting point.
On learning of his passing, Minister of Sports, Hon. Eric Evelyn shared this text message:

“I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Ministry of Sports, to extend heartfelt condolences to Della and the rest of the family, on the untimely passing of Nicky.
We value the contribution that he has made to Drag racing on Nevis and the sport is now better on the island, as a result of the early work done by him.
We at the Ministry of Sports share your loss and pray for God’s sustaining mercy on you at this difficult time.”
