MINTOS STARS IN EMPIRE WIN

Wasim Mintos was the ultimate hero , as he starred for the Empire Cricket club in their match versus the Len Harris Cricket Academy (LHCA), played at the newly renovated Conaree Cricket ground.

The match was another in the Keith Arthurton/Windsor NAGICO T-20 encounters and was moved from the previously scheduled Warner Park Cricket stadium.

LHCA batted first and could only muster 111 for 9 in their 20 overs: Akeem Saunders 22; Terrence Ward 20; Jerelious Louis 20 were the main scorers. Justin Athanaze; Wasim Mintos; Trevier Smithen and Theron Bussue, all got 2 wickets each.

Empire in response, 112 for 1 in 17.2 overs. Wasim Mintos smashed 76 before he got out and Theron Bussue was not out on 18.

Empire won by 9 wickets.

Results in other matches played: The match between Sandy Point and Molineux was rained out. Both teams collected one point each.

In the match, Haynes Smith versus Newtown, Newtown made the tournament’s highest score of 212 for 6, with Junie Mitchum top scoring with 80 and Haynes Smith in response got to 163 for 4 from their 20 overs. Newtown won by 50 runs.

A much anticipated match comes up on Sunday 25th September, when Empire will take on fellow Nevisian rivals, Pennyless All-stars at 2 pm at the Conaree grounds.
