More Relief for Communities across Nevis

Charlestown, Nevis -The ongoing program, which is a collaborative effort between the NEVIS Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the Social Development Department, continues to receive rave reviews.

The program involves the placement of large bins within communities, spread across the entire island and caters for the removal of bulky items that are not normally accommodated, during the regular collection of household waste.

General Manager at the NSWMA, Andrew Hendrickson, in a recent interview, indicated that the program has been going well and the communities have been responding favourably.  He noted that it was also an effort in the continued fight of vector control, with the removal of potential breeding sites for harmful pests such as mosquitoes and rats.

Community Development Officer, Ms. Tracey Parris, recently gave the updated schedule for the placement of bins as follows:
Tuesday, June 23 – Hull Ground (opposite BRINO’s shop) and Matchmans Road
Wednesday, June 24 – Pond Hill-Community Center Grounds and Chicken Stone
Monday, June 29 – Hard Times (in the vicinity of the Corn Mill) and Zion Housing Project
