Mother and Son Charged With Attack of Medical University Student

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The mother, whose son allegedly attacked and inflicted wounds on a student who attends the Medical University of the Americas’, has been charged with accessory after the fact for attempted murder; and accessory after the fact of burglary.

According to information received, Itasha Dellisser a national of Jamaica but who resides at Shaw’s Road, New Castle is alleged to have been informed of what had transpired between her son and the medical student on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Allegations are that she may have facilitated in his attempt to evade arrest by the police, by purchasing a ticket for him to fly from the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts to Jamaica. While at the RL Bradshaw Airport, he was apprehended by detectives from the Violent Crime Unit.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2013 her son, Shane Dwayne Oliver Shorter appeared before the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court where he was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison by Her Honor, Yasmine Clarke.

Shorter was formally arrested and charged with wounding to commit murder to Samar Haroon at her home in New Castle, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. He was also charged with burglary.
