‘Mr. G’ named first ever ‘Grill Master Champion’ 2014

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- History was made on Sunday, November 02, 2014 at the Gateways Beach Bar when Keino ‘Mr. G’ Claxton was named the first ever ‘Grill Master Champion’. Keino copped the title from a field of four competitors at the First Ever Grill Master Competition 2014 held on the island of Nevis.

He captivated and impressed the three judges Eugene ‘Chevy’ Chiverton, Sylvester Meade and Head Judge, Rodney Elliot with his creative presentations, soft tender bites and delicious barbeque sauces.

The four participants competed in six (6) categories, involving ribs, pork and chicken. They had to present to the judges each type of meat, with and without barbeque sauce. The judges’ jobs were to judge based on texture, presentation and the taste of the food and sauce.

At the end of the competition, Keino was announced the winner. He gained a grand total of 101 points. Chiverton spoke on behalf of the judges. He stated that the judges had a difficult task to judge the segments. He indicated that all the participants did extremely well and participated with much zeal and determination to win. Chiverton used the opportunity to congratulate Keino on his victory.

After being announced the winner, Keino gave brief remarks. He thanked everyone who came out to the event. He also thanked the organizers and everyone who came and supported him.

Nevispages spoke to the mastermind behind the event, Mr. Ishan Todman. Todman told this media house that he has gotten positive feedback about the event; and he is anticipating a greater competition next year. He indicated that one of his plans for next year’s event is to include persons from St. Kitts to make the event bigger and better. Todman concluded that the competition was a huge success.

The other competitors were Pamela ‘Pam’ Hall, Gavin Warner and Glory and Kembo Clarke.
