NASPA employs eleven (11) new security officers

The Constabulary of the Nevis Air & Sea Ports Authority (NASPA) completed a two-week Basic Training Security Course for eleven (11) new employees, seven males and four females, over the period Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 14.

The Course was held at the Vance W. Amory International Airport.

Chief of Security Mr. David Hendrickson welcomed the new employees on Monday, June 3, and urged them to become the “eyes and ears” of the Authority.

Other presenters were newly appointed Board Chairman, Mr. Collin Dore, Acting General Manager, Mr. Oral Brandy, Human Resource Manager, Mr. Stevenson Manners and Airport Manager, Mr. Stephen Hanley.

The main instructors, Chief of Security, Mr. David Hendrickson, Corporal Velie Maynard, and Civil Aviation/Maritime Officer, Royston Griffin exposed the new officers to both aviation and maritime security. Some of the topics covered were Access Control, Security Awareness, Screening of Passengers with Checked Bags, and Screening of Hold Baggage.

Ms. Elmeader Brookes and Mrs. Jacqueline Jeffers presented on Customer Service and Work Ethics respectively.

The new recruits expressed their delight in becoming members of the Constabulary, and pledged to uphold the core values, ethics and principles of the Authority.

This initiative is in keeping with NASPA’s objective to maintain compliance with international standards, which St. Kitts and Nevis have signed on to.

The newly-installed officers were deployed at the Vance W. Amory International Airport and Long Point Port effective Monday, June 17.
