National Bank to Deactivate Old Debit Cards by June 15, 2019

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 12, 2019 (SKNIS): Clients of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Ltd. (SKNANB), who have not yet collected their new smart Debit Card, are urged to do so before the end of the week.

The bank introduced a new smart card and began distributing it to clients on Saturday, March 23, 2019. It has an embedded microchip and offers a variety of improvements over the previous Debit Cards including enhanced security features and other conveniences. However, the time is running out for persons who have not yet collected their new card.

“We will be deactivating all those old cards this coming weekend (Saturday, June 15, 2019),” said Anthony Morton, Executive Manager Marketing at SKNANB. “We would have had a campaign for several months inviting persons to come on in to get their new cards, so we want to remind you once again to come on in by this weekend, to collect your new smart Debit Cards.”

A special appeal was made to clients in St. Kitts and in Nevis to collect their card from the main branch in Basseterre or Charlestown on or before 4 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019. Those unable to do so will have one more chance on Saturday, June 15, 2019, as the branches will be opened specifically to issue cards from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We do not want anyone to have any inconveniences of not having access to their funds,” Mr. Morton stated. “… This is the last go around, this is the last hurrah, you need to pick up your smart Debit Cards this coming Saturday.”

One of the conveniences of the new card will allow contactless access whereby certain machines can read the contents of the card without swiping when conducting a transaction.
