Nevis Cricketers Create Excitement in Trial Matches

As the Nevis senior team prepares to participate in the upcoming Leewards Island’s Cricket tournament, slated for Montserrat, in September, two trial matches were held at the ET Willet Park, on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August.
Scores from the match played on Sunday, were not immediately available but some exciting Cricket was played on Saturday, as the players all vied for the coveted spots in the team.
The Jason Campbell X1 batted first and amassed a healthy 238 for 7 from 45 overs. Carlon Bowens-Tuckett, fresh from his Windies under 15 tour to the UK, led the way with a cultured 84 not out.
Also making valuable contributions were Ross Powell with 48; Adelvin Phillip 44 and Saeed Williams 24.
For the Tonito Willet X1, Akito Willet bagged 2 for 42; Tonito Willet, Junie Williams; Boognarine Sharma and Solomon, all got one wicket each.
The Tonito Willet X1, crucised to 239 for 4, in overhauling the target, in just 40.2 overs. Skipper Tonito Willet lead the way with a scorching 108 not out and Duan Webbe slammed 83.
Bowling for the Jason Campbell X1 saw Kezron Archibald 1 for 27; Jaden Carmichael 1 for 45; Trishawn Francis 1 for 46.
Tonito Willet’s X1 won by 6 wickets.
