CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — The Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) officially concluded its annual Summer Safety Camp on Friday, August 21, 2026, with a celebration and graduation ceremony held at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park.
The camp, which began on August 10 at the Charles L. Walters Community Centre, provided 75 young participants between the ages of 5 and 16 with an engaging and educational program focused on safety, preparedness, and community resilience.
Camp Highlights
Throughout the two-week program, participants took part in a range of interactive activities designed to equip them with practical knowledge and life-saving skills. The curriculum included:
Disaster preparedness drills
First Aid and CPR training
Fire safety exercises
Nature hikes
Educational field trips
Creative arts and crafts
The activities were designed to promote awareness, preparedness, teamwork, and personal responsibility while giving participants an enjoyable and meaningful summer experience.
