Nevis Disaster Management Department Partners with Marine Resources for Hurricane Preparedness Fisher’s Meeting

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD), in collaboration with the Department of Marine Resources St. Kitts and Nevis, hosted a Hurricane Preparedness Fisher’s Meeting.

The session provided fishers with vital information on the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season outlook, practical preparedness measures before, during, and after a storm, and updates on future projects designed to build resilience and promote sustainability within the fishing sector.

The NDMD commended the Department of Marine Resources for spearheading this important initiative, noting that partnerships like these are critical in safeguarding lives, livelihoods, and national food security.

The department further encourages all stakeholders—especially those in coastal and marine industries—to remain alert to official tropical weather updates, follow safety guidelines, and take proactive steps to protect themselves, their families, and the wider community.

Together, we are building a safer, stronger, and more resilient nation.
