Nevis Education Minister pledges solid support for enhancement of education system

NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (AUGUST 27, 2013) – Premier of Nevis and Minister of Education in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) Hon. Vance Amory, pledged his unwavering support for the improvement of the island’s education system.

teachersThis was conveyed at the Department of Education’s annual Back to School ceremony on Aug. 26, 2013, at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC) held under the theme “Advancing Education by Fostering a Culture of Collaboration.” During his address the Premier promised to provide assistance and collaborate with the Department of Education to provide all necessary resources for the education of the island’s youth.

“I pledge to give as much serious direction and assistance as possible and to work closely with the persons in the Ministry and Department of Education to ensure that we get the best from the resources we invest in this process of educating, training and developing our children socially, morally and academically to ensure the future, prosperity and stability of our country,” he said.

In reference to the theme, the Premier also urged teachers and education officials to collaborate, play their part and contribute towards the improvement of the education system for the benefit of the island’s young minds.

“I am expecting every one of you to buy into this new paradigm…The cost of failure is too great to comprehend…each one of you has a role to play. The synergy that can be generated depends on each one pulling his or her weight. In this way, the result of the effort which is exerted will be cumulatively more than the value of each individual’s input,” he stated.

Premier Amory closed with words of encouragement to the teachers and urged them to use the new school year to collaborate in an effort to enrich the minds of the younger generation and to make a contribution to their country through the promotion and advancement of the education system on Nevis for the benefit of the community.

“I am calling on all of you to see each success as your success and to therefore see this new school year as a call to greater collaboration and unity of purpose, as we together strive to make our country a better place for all of us to live,” he said.
