BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (SKNIS) — The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Nevis Division’s collaboration with the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force has received the public’s support, says Superintendent Hilroy Brandy.

“Residents have commented that the increased presence has given a comforting feeling to them and their families,” stated Superintendent Brandy, who heads the Nevis Division. “Over the last two weeks, we have had a contingent of defence force personnel augmenting our policing efforts on Nevis. They are assisting in daily policing patrols in our communities, interacting with the residents, and assisting the police force in its day to day operations.”

With crime trending downward in Nevis, Brandy said the security forces will remain proactive.

“The increased presence of officers in the community is geared towards crime prevention and to increase interaction between the officers and the communities they serve,” he said. “We want our communities to become involved, look out for each other, share information with the police, and to ensure that our communities and island is a safe place to live, work and vacation.”

Superintendent Brandy expressed that the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has an ongoing recruiting effort, and encouraged young men and women to explore a possible career in law enforcement. “It is a noble and satisfying work” he stressed.
