Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) Welcomes Virgil Browne to the Fold

(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)-The Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) held a press conference on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Franklyn Browne Community Centre, Camps Village, to launch the candidacy of Virgil Browne to be the NRP candidate for the St. James constituency.

Mr. Virgil Browne, will replace the outgoing candidate for the area of St. James’ Hon. Patrice Nisbett, who has been contesting the constituency for local elections since 2001.

Leader of the Nevis Reformation Party, Hon. Joseph Parry, gave a few words on behalf of the candidate. He pointed out, that Browne came from a good background and had a decent upbringing. He indicated that Browne’s father, Mr. Franklyn Browne, served as Principal of two schools and his mother was once a teacher. Parry told those gathered, that Browne is a well accomplished young man, who has done well for himself. He continued, “He has achieved a lot of things during his life thus far in both sports and business”.

Mr. Parry also praised former candidate Hon Patrice Nisbett. He stated that during his tenure as Attorney General, he was one of the best to have served in that position. In closing, he welcomed Browne to the political arena and wished him every success.

Mrs. Patricia Jeffers, read a brief biography of Browne. She noted, that Virgil played cricket at local and regional levels.  Mrs. Jeffers indicated that the candidate played and served as captain of Nevis under-19 team as well as the senior team. Browne also represented the Leeward Islands in the West Indies Domestic Competition and was the team’s leading wicket taker with 20 wickets in 2003. Besides being a player, he also served as Therapist for the West Indies Cricket Team. Browne also was employed at the Four Seasons Resort after completing the Nevis Sixth Form College.

Browne also gave brief remarks to the gathering. He told those in attendance, that it was a great honour to have been chosen to be the candidate for the constituency. He noted that once elected, he will serve his constituents well as he is expected to be held accountable. He continued, “I will act responsibly and give accountability at every turn as to what is going on”. He said that the campaign is already on the way, and he will be going from house to house to ensure that people’s concerns are heard. Browne said he is looking forward for the opportunity to serve his country in this capacity.
