A very important meeting convened by the Nevis Cricket Association, was held at the ET Willet Park on Thursday 25th August.

Vellie Maynard, Vice President of the Association chaired the meeting, as he met with representatives of various Cricket teams/ clubs throughout the island.

According to Maynard, he is fed up of hearing the cricketers asking when they will be getting to play some cricket and so he thought it was time for action.

The major decision coming out of the meeting, is that local Cricket on Nevis is now set to commence next week.

The second division league will commence on Thursday 1st September with one match and the 1st division fixtures will commence on the weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September.

It was noted that the registered teams for the second division competition are: Highlights; Calypso; Easterns; Big Rock, SDA Jets; CSS and GSS.

The registered teams in the first division are: Pennyless All-stars; Highlights; Pioneers and Empire.

All matches will be played at the ET Willet Park and the second division games are set to commence at 5.30 pm sharp and will generally be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

It is the intention of the NCA to ensure that both leagues are completed prior to the commencement of the planned Football league in October.
