Nine year old Hrishikesh Srinivasan, a grade five student of the Maude Crosse Preparatory school, is this year’s local champion and will represent the Federation at the regionals for the 2015 Courts OECS Reading Competition.

After the internal competition held at the school on September 17th which he won, Hrishikesh was then moved forward to the second phase in Zone B for Nevis. He came up against Ivor Walters Primary, Nevis Academy, Joycelyn Liburd Primary and Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, and again he emerged the winner.

On Friday 2nd October, Hrishikesh along with his supportive team journeyed over to St. Kitts to compete in the 3rd phase of the competition which is sponsored by Courts in conjunction with the Ministry of Education. After two very intense rounds, the indomitable Hrishikesh Srinivasan of the Maude Crosse Prep School lead the way and was declared WINNER with 512 points, while in second place was Cajoy Isaac of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School with 478 points and third place went to Jaidyme Benjamin of the St. Pauls Primary School with 475 points.

The regionals are slated for early February 2016 in Dominica, as the previous winner was from Dominica and Courts has decided due to the recent flooding, to allow the country more time to organize the event.
