Nevis To Send Under 19 Team To Leewards Tournament

Curtis Morton:

It has been confirmed. Nevis is set to send a team to the under 19 Cricket tournament being hosted by the Leeward Islands Cricket Association.

The under 17 tournament is currently underway in Montserrat and this will be followed immediately by the hosting of the under 19 tournament.

Nevis did not send a team for the under 17 tournament. When quizzed about it, President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Denrick Liburd responded: ‘The boys were doing exams and most of them are A students and that of course is a priority.’

However, with the exams apparently out of the way, Director of Sports Jamir Claxton, confirmed on Monday, that a representative under 19 team will travel to Montserrat on Tuesday 26th June, to participate in the tournament.

According to Claxton, the team will travel by boat to the Emerald Isle, with some players leaving the Charlestown dock at 8 am and the remainder leaving at 2pm

The under 19 tournament is set to run from Thursday 28th June to Monday 2nd July.

Nevis will engage arch rivals Antigua and Barbuda in their first match, on Thursday 28th June.
