NEVIS, West Indies – Nevis Welcomes Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally, Inspiring Youth Through Aviation and STEM

The island of Nevis proudly welcomed participants of the Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally, an annual international flying event that combines aviation excellence with youth development. The rally serves as a key fundraiser supporting Aviation Connection’s free Aerospace and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) STEM programs for high school students, while also promoting aviation-friendly destinations across the Caribbean.

This year, ten pilots and their teams from the International Air Rally organization arrived in Nevis as part of their Caribbean route. Their visit highlights the island’s growing reputation as a premier destination for aviation enthusiasts and private aircraft owners from the United States.

Earlier in the day, the visiting pilots participated in a Student Aircraft Visit at the Vance W. Amory International Airport, where students from several schools across Nevis gathered for a unique, hands-on learning experience. The initiative allowed students to engage directly with pilots, explore aircraft up close, and gain valuable insight into careers in aviation and technology. The students were also delighted to receive small tokens and gifts from the visiting teams, further enriching the experience.

The day’s activities culminated in a welcome cocktail reception held at the picturesque Oualie Beach Resort, where guests enjoyed stunning views of the Narrows and a relaxed beachfront ambiance. The event provided an ideal setting for cultural exchange, networking, and celebration of aviation’s role in connecting people and opportunities.

Brief remarks were delivered by several distinguished officials, including Ms. Andia Ravariere, CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in positioning Nevis as a dynamic and accessible destination. Mr. Oral Brandy, General Manager of the Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority (NASPA), highlighted the island’s commitment to maintaining high standards in aviation infrastructure and services. Mr. John Hanley, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, underscored the value of partnerships that promote both tourism and education, while Hon. Eric Evelyn, Deputy Premier of Nevis, reaffirmed the government’s support for programs that inspire and empower the nation’s youth.

Representing the Air Rally organization, Mr. Camil Dumont expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people and Government of Nevis for their warm hospitality and seamless coordination. He commended the island for its welcoming spirit, efficient airport services, and strong community engagement, noting that Nevis stands out as a premier stop on the rally circuit.

The Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally continues to bridge aviation, education, and tourism, leaving a lasting impact on both visiting participants and the next generation of aspiring aviators in Nevis.
