Nevis wins leeward islands debating competition

NevisPages Charlestown Nevis March 5- Last night Nevis, the defending champions, captured the Leeward Island Debating competition again for the second straight year. In addition, the Sixth Former Rol-J Williams was declared best speaker for the second year undefeated.

On Friday March 2 Antigua came up against St Maarten and debated the topic: “Mental Health issues among Caribbean adolescents have largely been ignored.” St Maarten reigned supreme.

On Saturday March 3 Anguilla challenged the defending champion Nevis and debated the topic: “Climate Change supersedes crime and drug trafficking as the greatest threat to the stability and development of the Caribbean.” Nevis defended their title well and was victorious.

The final night Sunday March 5, St Maarten with hopes of winning this year’s championship challenged defending champions Nevis, debating the topic: “Black people’s suspicion and resentment of white people is justified.” Nevis opposed the moot and again was victorious winning the 2018 Leeward Islands Debating competition.
