Nevis Youth Council will host its 2nd Annual “Youth Expression Through Arts” on Saturday, June 13

The Nevis Youth Council is a youth organization that focuses on inspiring, motivating, uniting and empowering young people.  The council allows our youths to express themselves publicly about issues that affect our society and to propose creative solutions to combat them.  It also presents an opportunity for our youths to initiate and implement ideas/events that would not only assist greatly in their growth but the overall development of our society.

The Nevis Youth Council after being dormant for many years, was re-launched in April of 2012.  The executive members of the Nevis Youth Council consist of President Dwane Hendrickson, Vice President Luciano Morrison, Public Relations Officer Bervis Burke, Treasurer Tameka Vyphius, Assistant Treasurer Daniella Ward, Secretary Clayticia Daniel and Assistant Secretary Donne Dyer. This executive has undertaken various activities such as Female Empowerment Workshops, Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Seminars and Youth Expressions Through the Arts aimed at energizing our young people and communities to effect positive social change. There are also other initiatives that will be implemented shortly as we continue to empower of young people.

The Nevis Youth Council will be hosting its 2nd Annual “Youth Expression Through Arts,” under the theme “Fusion.”  The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 13th, 2015, at 7:30 pm at the Nevis Cultural Complex.  Tickets are now on sale at The Department of Youth and Sports, Buju’s and Shatz Bar (Phoebe’s Bar) for $20.00.  The cost of tickets at the gate will be $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for children (individuals under the age of 16).

“Expression Through Arts: Fusion” will showcase visual, culinary and graphics art through our Art Gallery, and performing arts that exhibit the cultural talents of the different ethnic groups in Nevis.  These will include performances from our Guyanese Family, Spanish friends, Jamaican posse, Rastafarian brethren’s and other regional brothers and sisters.  Our goal is to unite and create the ‘Fusion’ that will blow your minds.  It will be an event to remember!
