Nevisian Spin Twins Feature But South Africa Prevail

Jaden Carmichael and Onaje Amory, spun webs around the South African under 19 batsmen, in the opening one-day match, of the ongoing series, on Sunday 26th December.

Along with left arm leg spinner Anderson Mahase, who bagged four wickets, the Nevisian spin twins captured 3 wickets each, to undermine the South African innings.

In response, the young West Indies team was cruising to what seemed an obvious victory, with the score placed at 121 for 3 in the 31st over, when the unthinkable happened.

The Windies team, lost their next 7 wickets for just 8 runs, in the next 25 deliveries!

Giovonte Depeiza top-scored with 39 – off 33 balls with three fours and three sixes – and it was his 51-run fourth-wicket stand with Rivaldo Clarke (13) which appeared to put West Indies on course for victory.

Leg-spinner Dewald Brevis snatched 3-36 while fast bowler Andile Simelane claimed 2-5, to set up the South African win.

Captain Ackeem Auguste had earlier made 27 and Teddy Bishop, 24 to repair the innings after the openers fell cheaply.
