NEVLEC Empowers Next Generation of Energy Professionals through Dual 2026 Summer Internship Initiatives

The Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) is proud to welcome five (5) summer interns for the period of July 6–31, 2026. This year’s internship programme reflects a dual-track approach, combining our longstanding partnership with the Department of Youth’s Summer Job Attachment Program (SJAP) and NEVLEC’s own direct school outreach initiative.

Department of Youth – Nevis: Summer Job Attachment Program (SJAP)

Once again, NEVLEC has partnered with the Department of Youth–Nevis to provide valuable, real-world work experience for promising young people. This year, three (3) students have been placed within key operational departments:

Mr Jamari Pluck — Generation Department
• Ms Teniqua Coleman — Generation Department
• Ms Callia Hobson — Customer Service Department

NEVLEC’s Technical Early Talent Initiative (Direct Selection)

As part of NEVLEC’s strategic commitment to developing local talent and strengthening the island’s future technical workforce, the company has directly selected two outstanding female students:

Ms. La-Taivia Powell
Ms. Nailah Taylor

These students were identified during a recent educational visit to NEVLEC’s Generation Plant, where they demonstrated a strong interest in engineering and utility operations. To provide them with broad exposure to the technical foundation of the island’s electricity network, they will participate in a comprehensive internship that includes rotations through three core engineering departments: Generation, Transmission & Distribution (T&D), and Planning.

NEVLEC is delighted to host all five interns and is confident that their time working alongside our experienced professionals will be both meaningful and rewarding. By providing students with practical, hands-on experience, NEVLEC continues to bridge the gap between education and the professional workplace while inspiring the next generation of utility professionals.

This multifaceted approach underscores NEVLEC’s unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility, youth empowerment, and workforce development, ensuring that the next generation is well equipped to support the continued growth, innovation, and technical advancement of Nevis.
