NEVLEC wishes to advise all of its valued customers that it is against the law to tamper with or to reconnect electric meters that have been disconnected by the Company; or to knowingly consume electricity which has not been correctly metered because of tampering.
Effective 01st October, 2014 the following applies to anyone found guilty of using electricity illegally:
• NEVLEC will estimate billing for the period of time the meter was not registering the correct kilowatt consumption
• The customer will be required to pay all additional costs incurred by NEVLEC as a result of the incident
• The consumer will be fined $5000.00.meter tampering fee
