New Law Term 2015/16 starts off with special church service

(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)- A Special Service to commemorate the opening of the new Law year took place this morning, Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Taylor’s Memorial Holiness in Charlestown Nevis.

Dignitaries in attendance included Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, Premier of Nevis, Hon. Vance Amory, Governor General His Honor, Tapley Seaton, Deputy Governor General His Honor, Eustace John, President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association, Mr. Charles Wilkin; Senior officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force; officials of the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration, and members of the Inner and Outer Bar of the St. Kitts-Nevis Bar Association and their staff.

The service began with opening remarks by Pastor Spencer Watts, who also delivered the Sermon.

The first lesson was read by the Her Ladyship, Justice Lorraine Williams who is responsible for the Nevis Circuit of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court; while the second lesson was done by Her Ladyship, Justice Marlene Carter who is in charge of the St. Kitts Circuit of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. This was followed by a rendition which was delivered by Attorney-at-law, Mrs. Belva Nisbett.

A guard of honor was then drawn up outside of the Charlestown High Court. Members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association and other dignitaries, later assembled in order to hear the opening address of the law term by Chief Justice Janine Perriera.
