New Zealand High Commissioner Visits shade house at Charlestown Primary

CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (June 05, 2018) — Her Excellency Jan Henderson, High Commissioner from New Zealand visited Nevis on Tuesday 5th June as part of her farewell visit to the federation. Her Excellency visited a shade house project being operated by the Principal and staff of the Charlestown Primary School.

The shade house which was funded by her government in partnership with IICA (Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture) constructed back in 2016. The delegation which included the Deputy High Commissioner was accompanied by IICA representative in St. Kitts and Nevis Mr. Augustine Merchant, Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Huey Sargeant, Director of Agriculture Mr. Randy Elliot and other senior officers within the agriculture department. The director gave H.E Henderson a tour of the shade house after which she expressed her satisfaction at the progress of the facility.

Ms. Latoya Jeffers in response thanked the high commissioner and her delegation and presented her with a token of appreciation which included freshly harvested items from the shade house. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Mr. Kevin Barret who was also on hand expressed his gratitude .
